Delete your account

Deleting your Enc Chat account cannot be undone. You need your password.

In the app

1. Open Enc Chat on your phone or computer.
2. Go to Settings, then Account.
3. Tap Delete account and enter your password.

Without the app

Open Enc Chat in your browser, sign in with your username and password, then do the same steps. Signing in there signs your phone out. Forgot the password? Choose the recovery option on the sign in screen and use your recovery code.

What is deleted

Straight away: your account, profile, password and recovery code, your devices and their notification addresses, your place in every group, messages still waiting to be delivered to you or from you, your online chat backup and your recovery PIN escrow. Your profile photo goes within two days.

What is not

Messages already delivered live on the other person's device, encrypted to them, and stay there. Diagnostic logs you sent are deleted after 30 days, and short lived security records age out on their own.
